Summer is over, and you still sneezing and coughing? Fall allergies are different from summer or spring. Allergens are different, and have almost the same symptoms.

What causes fall allergies?

Ragweed is the biggest problem. Their pollen release begins as early as August, and the peak concentration of pollen in September and October. Around three quarters of people who are allergic to spring the plants are also allergic to ragweed. Some foods, such as bananas, melons and squash can also cause allergic reactions.

Mildew is also a common allergen in autumn. You might think that mold grows only in the basement or bathroom, but you should know that the mold is located in small depressions on the outside of the house. Pile of wet leaves is an ideal basis for the development of mold.

Do not forget to dust mites. They are more common during the wet summer months, but that does not mean that it does not fall over. Dust mites can cause further complications in diseases of the respiratory system.

What are the symptoms?

  • runny nose
  • watery eyes
  • sneezing
  • cough
  • itchy eyes and nose
  • dark circles under eyes

How to diagnose autumn allergies?

Your doctor will help you find out the exact cause of your symptoms. He will talk to you about your medical history and symptoms, and can recommend and testing.

The doctor will during the test put a small amount of allergen into the skin, usually on the back or forearms. If you are allergic to the allergen, there will be a small envelope that will irritate, like mosquito bites. Sometimes they do and blood tests.

How can you treat autumn allergies?

Existing level of medication that can help:

  • Steroidal nasal drops, which reduce inflammation of the nasal area.
  • Antihistamines, which help reduce the sneezing, itching and coughing.
  • Decongestants to help reduce congestion of the respiratory system.

Some drugs can be taken without a prescription, but it is not a good idea. It is always better to consult with your doctor before taking any medicine. Some medications may not be good for you, especially if you use them for too long or you suffer from some conditions, such as high blood pressure.

To alleviate the symptoms in a natural way?

Do not go out when the pollen level is very high (usually in the morning).

Before the first time you turn on the heating in the house, all heating appliances a good clean to remove dust particles and mites.

If the air in your home is too dry, use a humidifier.

If you must go out when the pollen level at its peak, to protect the nose and mouth mask, scarf or bandanna.
