High cholesterol is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke. If our cholesterol in the blood increases, the risk of coronary heart disease increases. If there are other risk factors, like smoking, high blood pressure or diabetes, the risk is still growing.

At the level of cholesterol in the body affect the age, sex, genetic factors, and particularly the type of nutrition.

When too much LDL (bad) cholesterol circulates in the blood, it is built into the walls of the arteries that feed the heart and brain. Cholesterol can not be dissolved in blood.

LDL and HDL cholesterol, triglyceride levels along a fifth, make the total cholesterol concentration.

LDL cholesterol is considered to be bad because it contributes to the development of thick plaques which can clog the arteries. This condition is known as atherosclerosis. If you are in a place and create a blood clot and blocks a narrowed artery, happen to heart attack or stroke. LDL is produced naturally in the body, but also in many people because of inherited genetic predispositions.

Ingestion of food with a lot of saturated fat and trans fat content increases the amount of LDL cholesterol in the blood.

On the other hand, HDL cholesterol is considered to be good, because it helps to remove LDL cholesterol from the artery. Experts believe that HDL carries LDL cholesterol from the arteries to the liver, where it breaks down bad cholesterol and removing it from the body.
