After it was discovered that only seven walnuts a day can protect against heart disease, nuts are immediately declared a superfood. No nuts have long been considered the most perfect food in nature.
It was found that of all the other nuts, walnuts contain the highest levels of antioxidants. And when it comes to food that is healthy for the heart, walnuts are among the three healthiest foods.
Besides being rich in antioxidants, contain healthy fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. No wonder, therefore, studies show that regular consumption of walnuts may reduce the risk of heart disease, some cancers and diabetes type 2.
In the latest study, researchers from the University of Scranton in the American state of Pennsylvania analyzed the antioxidant content of several types of nuts: walnuts, almonds, peanuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, pecan nuts, macadamia nuts and cashew nuts.
Study leader Dr. Joe Vinson said: “Walnuts are ranked above peanuts, almonds, pecan nuts, pistachios and other fruits. A handful of walnuts contains almost twice as much antioxidants than the same amount of any other nutty fruit. Unfortunately, people just do not eat a lot of nuts. Our research indicates that as part of a healthy diet should eat more walnuts. ‘
Tim dr. Vinson found that besides the amount of antioxidants nuts are superior in strength and antioxidants they contain. Those found in nuts are 15 times stronger than vitamin E, which is known as a very powerful antioxidant.
The researchers point out that the advantage of nuts that people eat them raw. Heat the gravy typically reduces the antioxidant properties of walnuts or any other nuts fruit.
Unfortunately, many avoid nuts because they think they are fat and will gain weight. No nuts contain healthy polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that do not clog up the blood vessels as well as saturated fats. Do you eat nuts you will not gain weight, except that you could lose weight and because they induce a feeling of satiety.
‘Seven walnuts a day is the ideal amount in order to get the maximum benefit from them, “added dr. Vinson.
