Pregnancy diet plan

During pregnancy you should pay attention to diet, that is why we are proposing five important groups of food.

The first group – meat and proteins

From this group should eat – and in three servings per day:

  • red meat
  • poultry (but be sure to remove the skin)
  • eggs
  • beans (cooked)
  • nuts
  • peanut butter

Peanut butter is a good choice in terms of protein, but do not overdo it with the amount. The same goes for eggs.

The second group – grains

From this group you should eat six servings per day:

  • bread from whole grains
  • cereals high in fiber
  • oats
  • whole grain crackers
  • brown rice

One serving means one cup of cooked cereal.

The third group – vegetables

You need to eat 3-5 servings of vegetables a day, and to choose from the following list:

  • green leafy vegetables (spinach, lettuce (endive), kale)
  • bright yellow vegetables (squash, carrots, pumpkin)
  • other vegetables – tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, peas, green / yellow beans, broccoli

The fourth group – fruit

From the list choose 2-4 servings per day:

  • citrus fruits – oranges, tangerines, grapefruit
  • strawberries
  • watermelon
  • mango
  • apples
  • bananas
  • peach

The fifth group – milk

Daily pregnant women should consume three or more servings of milk:

  • low-fat yogurt
  • hard cheese
  • milk
