Brittle nails are not just a cosmetic problem, they show us that our body lacks certain vitamins and minerals. Nails become brittle due to the presence of disease or fungal infection. Brittle nails are a result of the cold weather, stress, weakened immunity.
Is not it enough just to buy some medicines that will heal your nails and strengthen them (various lacquers and nail cream), it is necessary to begin to choose foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals that we can recommend.
Vitamins
Biotin – known as enzyme A or vitamin H, a member of the family of B-complex vitamins. Belongs to a group of vitamins that are soluble in water, which means that it is necessary to enter into the body daily, but can be synthesized in the intestine. Biotin is essential for normal metabolism of fat and protein and enhances the absorption of vitamin C. These vitamins, together with vitamins A, B2, B6 and niacin, maintain healthy skin and nails. Good sources of biotin are:
- vegetables
- walnuts
- brewer’s yeast
- beef liver
- peanut butter
- cauliflower
- yolk
- whole grains
Minerals – if you want to prevent broken, drying out, cracking and peeling nails, eat more foods that are rich in calcium. Good sources are:
- brussels Sprouts
- greens
- dairy products
- fruit juices
Nail polish will help you really protect nails and slow down the drying of the nails, but carefully select preparations for nail polish remover. Choose the ones that do not contain acetone and formaldehyde, especially if you have problems with the respiratory system.
Wear gloves while performing household chores, especially when using cleaning agents. And certainly, do not use your nails as tools!
